Beverly Fish, Fishtale Studio, Wallaceburg, Ontario
My work is often described as whimsical and fun. Attracted by bright jewel-like colours and embellishments such as beads and glitter, the subject matter is often based on imaginary lives of animals. These works are presented on canvas or paper using a combination of media.
On paper, I enjoy working with pen and ink, pencil crayon and watercolour. With canvas work, acrylic is used and often enhanced with beads and micro glitter.
As a full time visual artist living in Wallaceburg, I teach private lessons out of my business, “Fishtale Studio”, plus teach workshops at various art galleries and activity centres. I also work with individuals and small groups using art as therapy.
Teaching aside, I have shown my work in galleries over 30 years in more than 35 shows. This past year I received the Mayor’s Award for Best in Show at the Lawrence House Centre for the Arts, Sarnia and the Award of Excellence at the Eye For Art juried show, Thames Art Gallery, Chatham.
Although constantly learning and upgrading my skills, I received a B.F.A. from the University of Windsor, B.Ed in Visual Arts from Western University and an Art Fundamentals Diploma at Lambton College.
